ROW80 2014, Round 3, Week 3

This week I took on a last-minute editing job, so less time available for wandering and writing than I'd expected. Nevertheless, some good work accomplished this week.

"A Round of Words in 80 Days is the writing challenge that knows you have a life."

As I mentioned in my goals post for this round, I'm taking it a month at a time. My progress on this month's goals is as follows.

Get out & about for at least 2 hrs/day - On Sunday afternoon I hung out at my favorite cafe-bar for several hours and met most of the other regulars. Monday I walked up to Sacre Coeur and took lots of photos/videos. My favorite part was lurking around in back of the basilica because it was far more tranquil there (i.e. fewer tourists). Tuesday through Friday I didn't get out more than to grab my daily cup of coffee and do some grocery shopping, but yesterday I was out and about with some of the peeps from the cafe-bar from around 2pm til 10:30pm, so that sort of made up for it. This week I don't have any editing work, so the plan is to get out for several hours at a time in the middle of the day.

Improve my French - Lots of French practice with the cafe-bar peeps and my Airbnb host this week, though no Duolingo or reading of books in French. Will continue to practice conversing with real French humans and will do at least one Duolingo exercise per day.

Finish first draft of pseudonym's WIP2 - I finished transcribing my handwritten notes, sent it all to my developmental editor, and spent a couple hours on Wednesday discussing what needs to happen with it next. I'm setting aside three hours each morning this week to work on it. I don't know if that'll be enough to reach my goal of a finished first draft, but I'm sure gonna try.

Two blog posts per week - Exceeded again! Three posts went up on this blog this week - including the ROW80 update, an interview with my writer friend Aaron Simon and a My Writing Process blog hop post - and one post on the travel blog. For the coming week, this post counts, so I just need one more on the travel blog.

What are your writing goals for this coming week?

  1. Paris sounds wonderful, Sione. Enjoy your time there. Hopefully once your editing project is out of the way, there will be plenty of time to explore.

I'm working on revising a novella and I'm just starting the planning phase for the manuscript I plan to work on after this one is finished, hopefully in a few weeks. ROW80 is definitely keeping me on track.

    Have a great week!
