Priorities

Sometimes you have to choose. For example, when you're trying to finish up the next-to-last draft of the novel you've been working on for two years and it's going much slower than you anticipated and you're late getting it to your copy editor...

...do you take time out to write another blog post, or do you let the blogging slide for the week and devote all your mental and creative energy to finishing the damn book? This past week I chose the latter.

Hence, it has been two weeks since my last ROW80 Update
"A Round of Words in 80 Days is the writing challenge that knows you have a life."

[Note: This update only includes the past week's tasks and the coming week's tasks. If you'd like to know how they relate to my goals for this round, you can read my 2015 Round 2 Goals post.]

Creative Projects
April tasks:
  • Line & copy editing of pseudonym's WIP1 - Line editing done; ms with copy editor.
  • Set up WIP1 blog tour for June - Chose 2 tour companies & contacted both. They are waiting for my cover art & book description, which I expect to have ready this coming week.
  • Draft WIP1 book description - Drafted, but I don't know that it's done yet. I need feedback.
  • 1st drafts of dream prose poems while WIP1 is with editors - No progress.
Coming week's tasks: Get feedback on book description & revise as necessary; send cover art & book description to tour companies.

Blogging
Past weeks' tasks: Publish 2-3 new posts on this blog. Managed to get 3 posts up the week before last, including the first guest post in the new series about the characteristics of good writing. No posts last week, however, because I chose to concentrate on the novel.
Coming week's tasks: Publish 2-3 new posts on this blog; begin drafting post(s) for pseudonym's blog.

Reading for Fun
Past weeks' tasks: My assignment two weeks ago was to finish Golden Fool; no new assignment for last week. Finished Golden Fool and acquired Fool's Fate, the last novel in the Tawny Man trilogy by Robin Hobb. Also began reading Shades of Milk and Honey by Mary Robinette Kowal.
Coming week's tasks: Read Fool's Fate.

Community
Past weeks' tasks: Comment on 2-3 ROWers' posts; interact with writers on Twitter. Commented on 3 ROWers' posts week before last; nothing last week. Interacted with writers on Twitter both weeks - yay!
Coming week's tasks: Comment on 2-3 ROWers' posts; interact with writers on Twitter.

When you're strapped for time, what do you tend to prioritize first? How often do you put writing above everything else?
