- Learned how to use Twitter & now have over 1,100 Twitter followers (plus over 700 followers for my pseudonym)
- Began working with two fabulous business coaches: Jim Newcomer of Balance Breakthrough Coaching; and Jackie Babicky, author of Better, Smarter, Richer: Seven Business Principles for Solopreneurs
- Narrowed my business focus down to editing and writing coaching
- Am only a few days' consistent traffic away from 1800 hits/month on this blog - WOOT!
- Developmental, line, and copy editing work for new romance author Zoey Derrick on Finding Love's Wings (released May 2013), Give Me Reason (Sept. 2013), Give Me Hope (coming Nov. 2013); and developmental editing of Give me Desire (coming Dec. 2013)
- Copy editing of Virginia Duke's Damage Done (orig. released May 2013)
- Developmental editing of the 2nd edition of Shards: A Life in Pieces by Tuna Cole, a book of essays and poetry (2nd edition release date TBD)
- Developmental editing of In Between by Sassy Jacksun
- Ongoing writing coaching and developmental editing work with Jim Newcomer on his non-fiction book, which takes a multidisciplinary approach to saving the world
- Copy editing for seven different academic clients (all of whom met their goals for passing/publishing)
- Helped two coaching clients start writing again and am in the process of helping a third create space in her life for a writing project near & dear to her heart
- Seven interviews written for & published by VoiceCatcher.org
- 20 submissions to various markets
- Five works by S. H. Aeschliman published, including a story I got paid for (!!!) - see My Writing for links
- Two short stories published under pseudonym
- One novella written and published under pseudonym (two published, if you let me count the one published in Summer 2012), and over 1300 copies downloaded between the two books
- Have not counted number of poems & short stories written in the last year & a month
- Have connected with many wonderful writing communities both in-person and online, including VoiceCatcher, the Rain or Shine reading series started by Bill Cameron, #writeclub (on Twitter), A Round of Words in 80 Days, Deadly Ever After, and The Darker Half
- Volunteered for VoiceCatcher
- Attended Wordstock 2012 & 2013
- Did four readings of my work in public (!!!)
- Have conducted six author interviews so far for this blog (Kiersi Burkhart, Zoey Derrick, Julie Hutchings, Steven Parton, Jay Ponteri, Anya Breton), plus one publisher interview with Hawthorne Books
(On that last note, I am very excited about some of the interviews that will be posted over the next couple of months, both with authors and publishers. In November we'll have interviews from authors Josh Hewitt, Aaron Simon, and Scott Nadelson, plus a publisher interview with Greg Gerding from University of Hell Press. In December so far I have interviews lined up with Heather Jacobs from Big Fiction Magazine and with aforementioned mystery author Bill Cameron.)
And now that I'm looking back and seeing that I did indeed accomplish quite a lot (contrary to what it might feel like on a day-to-day basis), I have to add that none of this would have been possible without the loads of emotional support, free advice, free lunches, and referrals from friends, family members, and acquaintances, far too many people to name. I am so grateful for you all. *big warm fuzzies*
